Canadian Lance Stroll is targeting another FIA European Formula 3 Championship points haul in the latest rounds next weekend (22-24 Apr). The Montréal-born teenager will be making his race debut at the 4.381km Hungaroring track located near Hungary’s capital Budapest.
Stroll starts the first of three races over the weekend second in the 30-race series having placed his Prema Powerteam Dallara F312-Mercedes first and fifth in rounds one and three at Paul Ricard earlier this month (2-3 Apr).
Like the French venue, Lance has never previously raced at the Hungaroring but did test there last year. Stroll, along with the remaining 21-car Euro F3 field, gets the opportunity to test at the Formula One Grand Prix venue on Wednesday (20 Apr) prior to practice and qualifying on Friday (22 Apr).
“I’ll start the first race on Saturday second in the championship but my mind is not necessarily on taking the series lead – rather coming away after the third and final race on Sunday morning having scored good, solid points in all three races. Hungary is only the second of 10 events so the season has only just started. I’ll concentrate on doing the best job I can with Prema over the weekend. I tested at the Hungaroring last year. It’s a technical and physical track which will be challenging for everyone. Because of the official test day on Wednesday, it’ll make the Hungary event a long week – like Paul Ricard earlier this month – so it’ll be vitally important to stay focussed throughout.”
