The 2015 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship winning team started the Canadian season this past Sunday with a private test day at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Perfect weather and a solid first day of testing brought together the members of the BGR team for a team building day and everyone was all smiles. Ben Hurst, the 2015 TTF1600 rookie of the year will partner with Roman De Angelis for both the full Toyo Tires F1600 Championship as well as the Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Series.

Taegen Poles and Matt Garwood will be working with the team with test programs and working towards race events towards the end of the summer with plans to compete full time with BGR in 2017. Additional drivers will be announced shortly as the team has two open seats for the Ontario and Quebec events, including the support race at the Montreal F1 race weekend and the ever popular GP3R. The F1600 Super Series is also on the radar for the team as they will for the first time compete in the full schedule. BGR's 2015 Toyo Tires Champion Reid Arnold finished 2nd in the 2015 Super Series despite missing two rounds.

"It was a super day at CTMP with our 4 drivers getting a chance to talk and get to know each other better. They are all very keen to get going and we are proud to have each one of them as a part of the BGR family along with Piper Racecars. Getting a private day at a track like "Mosport" is always a bonus. After a full day of running with some impressive times and zero issues, the team went home very satisfied and more motivated to get back to racing." comments team owner Brian Graham.

The BGR/Piper Racecars team had a very busy off season with several events in Florida and Georgia. The winter season was highlighted by a double podium weekend including a win at the SCCA Majors event at Sebring International Raceway with Peter Dempsey. Preseason testing continues at both CTMP and Shannonville Motorsports Park as the team prepares for the opening triple header May 13-15 at CTMP. The BEMC Spring Trophy event is the traditional opening weekend and just two weeks later the team heads to Mont Tremblant for the opener in the Formula Tour 1600 Series.

The BGR test program continues in early May at both CTMP and the CASC organized Spring Fling at Shannonville Motorsport Park. May 13-15 the season really gets rolling at the BEMC Spring Trophy Races at CTMP hosting the first 3 races in the 18 race Toyo Tire F1600 Championship followed by two weeks later the Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Series at Mont Tremblant's Le Circuit.

BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory supported team of the popular chassis which is built in California, USA. The all new Piper DL7 debuted with immediate success and grabbed its first win at CTMP winning the Al Craighead CanAm Cup. BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in OFFC history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year 9 of the last 10 years. With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
