Canadian Tire Motorsport Park hosted the opening rounds of the 2016 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship with some very tough weather conditions to test the competitors and teams. BGR/ Piper Racecars drivers Ben Hurst and Roman De Angelis both had stellar weekends with triple podium visits for a strong opening weekend. Rookie De Angelis steered his Piper DL7/Quicksilver Honda to a sweep of 2nd place finishes and sophomore Hurst did the same with a sweep of 3rd place finishes.
The conditions throughout the weekend varied from wet conditions including a session or two with snow to a semi dry track and finally a dry final. Both BGR drivers dealt very well with the changing track and made the most of their opportunities.
"We are very happy with our results this past weekend, both drivers adapted well to a very cold and sometimes wet track and never missed a beat. I am proud of them as well as our crew who kept up with the changing conditions in difficult circumstances with the weather. We now move to the opening rounds of the 2016 Formula Tour 1600 Series at Mont Tremblant. " comments team owner Brian Graham.
