Zeewolde, The Netherlands – The German Formula 4 championship brings back on track this weekend its thirty-five young hopes for a complete program to be disputed at the Lausitzring, the modern racing complex located South-East of Berlin and close from the Polish border. All drivers, including Canadian Kami Laliberté, have on their weekend schedule three races taking place Saturday and Sunday, June 4 & 5.

But before, on Friday the 3rd, all drivers will have entered a free practice session followed by a qualifying that will determine the grid positions for race 1 and 2 of the weekend. As a member of the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) team, the Canadian driver will return on the course where at the beginning of last week, reuniting with his number 35 car, he ran a good number of laps. One must remind that during the long German championship pause, Laliberté entered mid May a 4-race program in the French Formula 4 championship at the Grand Prix de Pau and earned a 2nd place in Sunday’s 2nd race.

‘’ The podium at Pau did well for me. Now, with a higher level of confidence, I can devote all my energy to the German championship. I also feel really good following the testing made at the Lausitzring last week. I felt good in the car and I have been able to learn more about the course itself. I now have some reference points and it will definitely help me this weekend, ‘’ said the driver who with three Top-10 in his six first starts in the series is now 12th in the championship standings. ‘’ So far, the team has always given me a very good car. I am fast and at ease, I feel good. Now, I need to take advantage of the experience that I keep acquiring and transform in satisfying results the good starting grid positions that I am getting.’’

Inaugurated as the world entered a new millennium, the Lausitzring is also often designated as the ‘’Eurospeedway’’. It is located in Klettwitz, 135 kilometres south west of Berlin, in the heart of Brandenburg, a Lander that was part of East Germany. The road course is 3.442 kilometres long with 11 corners and is largely using the infield of a superspeedway type 2-mile trioval. As it is often the case, the lay-out used this weekend by the Formula 4 cars and drivers, one corner which is part of the trioval is very fast while others in the infield are very tight.

The German Formula 4 championship drivers, including Kami Laliberté and his team mates at VAR, will be on track at 9:55 a.m. (3:55 a.m. ET) on Friday morning. The first race of the program is scheduled for 11:55 a.m. (5:55 a.m. ET) Saturday; and the second one, the same day at 5:40 p.m. (11:40 a.m. ET). Finally on Sunday, the third race on the program will start at 5:55 p.m. (11:55 a.m. ET).

One must note that Laliberté won’t be the only Canadian at the Lausitzring, since Bruno Spengler and Robert Wickens will be there for a round of the DTM championship. In fact, it will be the only time this summer that the young Montréal born driver will share the track with his famed fellow citizens.
