Klettwitz, Germany – Following yesterday’s 2nd place, his first podium of the season in German Formula 4 championship young Montréal born driver Kami Laliberté has fared less happy today during the third and final race of the program scheduled for this weekend at the Lausitzring, a circuit located in the eastern part of the country.

Starting with a car shod with grooved tyres on a wet track, the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) Dutch team driver was involved in a collision on the 11th of the 18-lap race. Having to return to his pit box to change the nose of his car and switch to slick tyres, Laliberté lost a lap and returned to the track at the 24th place. The young man had started 9th since the grid was reflecting in reverse positions the results of yesterday’s first race, at least for the top ten drivers. Kami went from 9th to 7th and back to 10th before the incident that ruined his race.

‘’It's disappointing; I would have surely enjoy another good result. I won’t blame the conditions; my car was doing fine under the conditions. But event though, in the traffic it got complicated. It explains why I have been able to pass, and be overtaken later before the accident. On the other hand, I must retain that I am leaving this place with more experience and a first podium. Also, I know that we are really among the fastest. As a matter of fact, I must also thank my team who has prepared again a superb car. We are now returning to Oscherlsleben where I recall having earned a good qualification and a Top-10. I’m going there in a good mood. I will be able to see where we stand now, measure he kind of progress we have made and of course, I intend to return to the podium where it is always fun to be’’, said the driver who with the points earned over the weekend climbed from 12th to 8th position in the standings of his first German Formula 4 season.

The young Canadian has in fact a very good knowledge of the 3.696-kilometre long Oschersleben Motorsport Arena and of its 14 corners. The fast track inaugurated in 1997 is located at 125 kilometres northwest of Leipzig. In fact, other than the first round of the current season last April, Laliberté has seen the course previously Last year and again in preseason testing this year.

During the preseason sessions, he recorded 166 laps and always remained among the fastest. The upcoming rendezvous with this circuit located near the Czech border is schedule for June 17, 18 and 19.
