Oschersleben, Germany – Having encountered all kind of difficulties Friday during free practice and qualifying and during the weekend first race yesterday, young Montreal-born driver Kami Laliberté had a better time today, Sunday in German Formula 4 on the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena race course in the eastern part of Germany.

Forced to start both of today’s race from far on the grid, the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) driver concluded each of his race of the day with significant gains in position, climbing from 28th to 22nd place in the morning and from the 31st to the 19th place in the afternoon.

‘’Considering that I ran all laps of both races and that I added some precious experience, it has finally been a good day. I put myself in trouble Friday and yesterday and it has been a lesson. I do not wish to have to start again from the back of the grid. Today, I found back my usual speed and beside a small collision with another car at the start of the second race, I consider that I did two good races. Of course, I could not climb back high enough to be in points, but gaining positions and finishing both races, is a positive ending under the circumstances. I must thank my team for having been able to give me back a very good car despite the recent days incidents’’, said the car number 35 driver.

Having start 28th in the morning race because of the 10-place penalty given by the stewards yesterday, the Canadian ended 22nd after recording the fastest time in the third sector of the track. In the afternoon, the driver was occupying the 31st position on the grid due to his yesterday’s finish. Following a small collision with another car, Laliberté had to head back to his pit box to change his swing and returned in 35th position.

Absolutely not discouraged, the young man climbed back to end the last race of the weekend at the 19th position. The second race of the day was disturbed by some incidents that forced the drivers to see the checkered flag behind the safety car.

Following the last three days spent in Oschersleben, the German championship drivers will pause for a complete month before returning to action for their 5th round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, on July 22. Kami Laliberté will still be active since four days of practice have been scheduled for the young Montréal-born driver : at the legendary Nürburgring on July 5 and 6 and at the series next stop, the Austrian Red Bull Ring, July 11 and 12.

‘’ Having these four days of testing on the two next course where we are going to race is great news. I will have the opportunity to prepare myself, learn more about them and get my marks’’, concluded the young Montréal-born driver.
