Zeewolde, The Netherlands – The thirty-five promising young drivers competing in the 8-event German Formula 4 German championship, including Montréal-born Kami Laliberté are returning on track this weekend as they begin the second part of their 2016 season.

On the occasion, they will gather at one of the two locations out of Germany where their schedule will take them this year, the Red Bull Ring in Austria. In preparation for this 5th round of the championship and the following one at the Nürburgring, Laliberté went on with two days of testing at both tracks during the month-long break that followed the last event at Oschersleben.

‘’The first half of the season has not been a walk in the park. It didn’t take long for me to notice a few important things. I had to adjust myself to single-seater driving and especially with a 30 plus-car contingent where it can get real complicated if you are on track far behind the leaders. It is very important to avoid difficulties on Saturday because, the following day, it can be real complicated to navigate from the back of the field. But, it’s the same task for everyone and during the break, I had plenty of time to review the goods and the bads of the first half, said the Van Amersfoort Racing driver. On the positive side, I can say that I am well surrounded in a quality team, that I am generally speaking among the fastest and that I have been able to record some Top-10 and get a podium finish, even two counting the one at Pau in the French championship.’’

The Canadian who is currently occupying rank 11 in the standings of this first attempt as a regular in the German Formula 4 championship, greatly appreciated the two days spent on the 4.326 kilometre track where the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix was disputed at the beginning of the month.

‘’It was quite special to be on a track where a few days earlier, the best drivers in the world were racing. Moreover, the preceding week, I had also tested during a couple of days at the Nürburgring, another Formula 1 track where we will go in a few weeks. It’s inspiring and giving a boost, a motivation to improve your driving and do better, has explained Kami who has all intentions to obtain during the second part of the season the kind of results that would satisfy him. I really enjoyed being on the podium at the Lausitzring. I intend to repeat as often as possible before the end of the season.’’

Laliberté will challenge the nine corners of the fast track located in the Styria Mountains an hour drive west of Graz, in free testing and qualifying this Friday, July 22. The first race of the program is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. local time (8:45 a.m. ET) on Saturday July 23 while race 2 and 3 are respectively scheduled for 9:50 a.m. (3:50 a.m. ET) and 1:45 p.m. (6:45 a.m. ET) on Sunday July 24. This weekend, the Formula 4 drivers will share the track with the 35 drivers of the ADAC GT Masters Championship.
