Long Beach, California – Despite qualifying eleventh, Canadian Zack Meyer was optimistic that he could improve his position during today's

Meyer was able to turn the seventh-fastest lap of the race in his #2 TMR/DAMIS PARTNERS III/Innisfil Indy Karting/Xtreme Coil Drilling car while pursuing Scott Anderson, the ninth-place finisher. Meyer was able to trim a five-second gap down to just a few tenths of a second, but despite harrying Anderson for a number of laps was unable to further advance his position.

"We had a pretty decent race, even if we weren't able to finish higher than we did in St. Pete," reflected Meyer post-race. "Vittorio and I were both driving really well, and I was able to make the pass on him, simple enough. Scott had more straight-line speed and I couldn't make the pass work. To try and out-brake him meant there was a chance of taking both of us out, depending on how he reacted. It wasn't worth it to lose more positions and points."

"Tenth isn't where we want to be, but at least we finished. We will go out in Barber and do our very best to be on the podium. The team and I definitely have what it takes."

After two races of Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires competition, Meyer currently sits tenth in the championship with 44 points, just six points out of ninth and ten points out of sixth.

The only Canadian in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires field returns to action April 25-27 for the first doubleheader weekend of the season at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Ala.
