The FIA F.3 European Championship will be back on-track at Imola this weekend, and Prema is set to be back at the same venue where the team celebrated their 2014 title with one round to spare before the end of the season with Esteban Ocon. Once again, Imola will host the penultimate round of the season and maybe more good news are set to come.
Prema has three of its four drivers at the top of the driver championship. Lance Stroll leads with 364 points versus the 296 of Maximilian Gunther and the 216 of Nick Cassidy. Considering that the six races still to be run at Imola and Hockenheim will award a maximum of 150 points, the chase for the 2016 title will basically involve only the Canadian racer and his German team-mate.
The fourth Prema driver, Ralf Aron, is currently ninth in the overall standings but also fourth among rookies with good chances to contend for the class honours. On the other hand, Prema is comfortably leading the team competition with 690 points versus the 444 points of their closest contenders.
René Rosin – Team Manager
“We are almost certain that the driver championship will fall in the hands of a Prema driver and this fact feels extremely rewarding for us. We are the leading force of the European Formula 3 championship for the sixth straight year and I think it’s a great record. Lining-up on our home tracks and in front of a friendly crowd, we’ll do everything we possibly can to keep scoring wins. Combining all our drivers, we won 15 times in the 24 races held so far”.
