Invercargill, New Zealand – Following a kind of halftone experience yesterday, Canadian driver Kami Laliberté enjoyed better moments on Sunday, even if the rain came to play a disturbing role over the short Teretonga circuit, located at the extreme south tip of New Zealand. In the two races on today’s program, sharing the track with nineteen other drivers from all over the world, the Montreal born driver added to his Castrol Toyota Racing Series record a pair of satisfying 6th places.

In the morning, for the second weekend event on the 2.57 kilometers, a 15-lap showdown, Laliberté was starting from 12th place. “I had a good start and was 6th after a short while. Then, I remained steady throughout the race, despite the rain. I am quite satisfied with this result’’, said Laliberté.

In the afternoon for this time a 20-lap race, the Canadian was 9th on the grid. ‘’Once again, it went very well at the start and I instantly gained one place. Then, I gained another position and as a competitor went out, I climbed to 7th place. Finally, in the last lap, I made a good move and overtook another driver to claim the 6th position. At the end of the day, my results are satisfactory, better than last week. Apart yesterday’s missed opportunity in qualifying, I am satisfied and encouraged for next week’’, concluded the driver who has a clear objective for his next championship stop. ‘’I want to do better!’’

Kami Laliberté and the other championship drivers will now return to the North Island, in the Waikato river valley, south of Auckland. They will challenge the modern and spectacular Hampton Downs circuit, 2.63 kilometers long.

Very winding, this course offers many good locations for overtaking. One must note that the upcoming program at Hampton Downs is the third of five to be disputed until mid-February on the same number of race courses. Young drivers from twelve countries have entered this series where all similar open wheel chassis are powered by Toyota engines.
