The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, powered by Mazda, gets underway at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend with the TUDOR Championship coming to the circuit with a split-class format. The series will run two separate two-hour races on Sunday afternoon.

While on-track action starts today, the packed schedule makes for limited track time with all classes of the TUDOR CHampionship (P, PC, GTLM & GTD) having only one practice session on Saturday morning with qualifying later that afternoon. However it should be noted that most of the drivers are familiar with the circuit and most have raced here under the banners of the pre-merger series. Still, it should make for some interesting strategy during the race as teams have little time to chase setup.

The split format will see the Prototypes run with the GT Le Mans class while Prototype Challenge will run with GT Daytona. This at least provides a visual mix on track and plenty of passing opportunities. There are a total of 56 cars entered across all four classes as follows:

Prototype (P) - 12
Prototype Challenge (PC) - 10
GT Le Mans (GTLM) - 11
GT Daytona (GTD) - 23

Canada is represented across the board with drivers in each of the four classes and AIM Autosport (Woodbridge, ON) returns with a new car and livery for the #555 Ferari Italia in GT Daytona. We'll be cheering them all on over the weekend. Here is a list of the Canadian entries highlighted in yellow.
