NASCAR, Trans Am & World Challenge headline full weekend during Victoria Day Speedfest
International race action comes to Canada this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with the CASTROL PRESENTS THE VICTORIA DAY SPEEDFEST WEEKEND starting this Thursday (May 15th). Speedfest sees four days of jam-packed action through Sunday (18th) featuring NASCAR Canadian Tire Series; SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am; Pirelli World Challenge; Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge; Canadian Touring Car/Canadian Supercar Series and the Formula 1600 Super Series.
This is round four in the SCCA Trans Am series which is making its annual appearance at CTMP for Speedfest. This year will also feature the return of Ron Fellows to Trans Am Competition. Fellows will be marking his 100th career Trans Am start driving the #6 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette. The race is on Saturday afternoon.
Speedfest also marks the kickoff of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The first of the eleven race schedule, it is also the first of three road course races on the schedule. This race will often include some interesting names coming out to test the track in advance of the NASCAR Silverado 250 Truck race later in the season.
Pirelli World Challenge returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with the TC/TCA/TCB Classes after skipping a year (the series competed at the temporary street circuit on the Honda Toronto Indy schedule in 2013) and they are coming back with an extra race for the fans. During round one for the junior classes at Barber Motosport Park in Birmingham, AL a few weeks ago, severe weather meant the second race was cancelled. Series officials announced that race two would be made up at a later date and the lucky fans at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will now get to see three full races over the Speedfest weekend.
The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin is making its first of two visits to CTMP this year starting with a weekend double-header. This is also the first round for Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire and the Canadian Supercar Series. The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship rounds out the weekend with races 3 & 4 on their schedule having opened their series two weeks ago.
It should be a fantastic weekend of racing and RaceCanada.ca will be there to catch all the action. Watch for photos and race updates on Facebook (www.facebook.com/RaceCanada.ca) , Twitter (www.twitter.com/RaceCanada_ca) and online at www.RaceCanada.ca
