Bowmanville, Ontario – Lauzon Autosport started strong its 2019 season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama. Patrick Dussault clinched a second-place finish after a highly exciting race, during the Victoria Day Speedfest weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Dussault, who competes for the third year at the wheel of the n77 Lauzon Autosport Porsche GT3 Cup, had a strong weekend, and mostly a stunning second race, on Sunday. Starting sixth according to best race lap times scored the day before, the 27-year-old has shown that he would be a serious candidate for the victory this season.

After a restart, he did one pass after another to quickly take the second spot. The driver fought hard to defend this position and traded the second spot a few times with another driver. A sudden rain shower forced the race to a red-flag finish, with less than 20 minutes to go in the race.

“I made some bold moves that paid off. I’m so happy to bring back a podium finish so early in the season. For my third year in the series, I feel confident and more experienced in the Porsche GT3 Cup. With Lauzon and GT Racing team, we are working so hard to get good results and I feel that we will achieve great things together this year,” said Dussault.

Saturday was also an eventful race day. A red flag dropped during qualifying prevented Lauzon Autosport to score fast lap times. “I was on my second pace lap and going for my fast lap when the crash happened, forcing the red flag,” explained Dussault, who took the start in 12th place on Saturday’s race. The driver still made this way to the top 5 throughout the 45-minute race on the fast Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course.

Étienne Borgeat, who is also of Lauzon Autosport team this season, scored an 8th place finish on Saturday’s race, after starting from the 15th spot. Sunday, he finished in 6th place overall, scoring a podium finish—2nd place—in the Masters category.

Lauzon Autosport’s cars have colorful liveries this year, that are artworks from artist Mario Adornetto. The Art Car technique, that combine performance cars, design and art, was used to replicate the artist’s work on the Porsche GT3 Cup. The cars with these unique liveries stand out from the rest of the field.

Both Lauzon Autosport’s Porsche GT3 Cup will be back on track, from June 7th to 9th, for the third and fourth races of the season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve during the Formula One Grand Prix of Canada weekend.
