Daytona Beach, Florida – NASCAR today welcomed previous series entitlement sponsor Canadian Tire back to the NASCAR Pinty’s Series as the “Official Retailer of NASCAR in Canada.” Motomaster Batteries also becomes the “Official Battery of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.”
As part of the partnership, Canadian Tire and Motomaster Batteries will each be race entitlement sponsors for 2021 NASCAR Pinty’s Series races – the Canadian Tire 150 at Autodrome Chaudière on Aug. 29 and the Motomaster Batteries 125 at Flamboro Speedway on Sept. 12.
“Canadian Tire has played an important role in the development of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and we are thrilled to welcome them back to the NASCAR family,” said Chad Seigler, NASCAR Vice President of International Business Development and Partnerships. “With a full season planned for 2021, we are eager to continue to build the Pinty’s Series as Canada’s leading stock car series, and teams and fans alike should be excited to see the commitment to the sport from Canadian Tire and Motomaster Batteries.”
“Canadian Tire has a longstanding history of supporting motorsport in Canada,” said Kim Saunders, Vice President of Community and Partnerships at Canadian Tire Corporation. “We’re proud to return as NASCAR partners again this year.”
Canadian Tire has a rich motorsports history having sponsored the NASCAR Pinty’s Series from its first year under the NASCAR umbrella (2007) through 2016 when Pinty’s Delicious Foods took over naming rights. The company has also served as facility naming rights holder and primary marketing partner of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) since 2012.
The NASCAR Pinty’s Series will hold two races at CTMP on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5. The series had raced at the historic venue every year before the pandemic-shortened season in 2020.

Millgrove, Ontario – pThe long off-season finally came to a close for Flamboro Speedway, as they hosted their first event of 2021 on Saturday, June 19. Despite a little bit of rain and some rookies in each of the classes, familiar faces were in victory lane by the night’s end.
Grisdale Triple Crown Late Models
One of the crown jewels for all racers across the province, the first round of the 2021 Grisdale Triple Crown highlighted Saturday’s action at Flamboro Speedway. The rules are simple – three races throughout the year 100 laps in length, and the driver with the most points at the end of the final event wins the championship.
It was a very rough and tumble day, with contact being the name of the game. Several drivers found themselves with scrapes and bumps on their cars, courtesy of walls, spins, and contact together. There was also an unfortunate Lap 1 incident which took out several of the big heavy hitters when the pole sitter got loose off of turn two.
Debuting a brand new car on Saturday, there were questions about how well Treyten Lapcevich would perform. However, he rose to the equation as the team put in the work, and he was able to put together a dominating performance en route to scoring the victory.
Shawn Chenoweth was able to rebound back to second despite going for a spin following contact, followed by Shae Gemmell, Connor James, and Kevin Albers. Ray Morneau piloted his last-minute ride to sixth, followed by Jade Franklin, Shane Maginnis, Jake Gilbert, and Kyle Steckly.
Dario Capirchio finished 11th, followed by David Gallinger, Shane McGlynn, Jake Sheridan, Kyle Wood, Rick Verberne, Josh Stade, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Matt Box, and James Horner. Unfortunately, Wally Wilson was unable to take the green flag due to mechanical issues.
Super Stocks
With a new touring series put together this year – Qwick Wick Fire Starter Super Stocks, there has been a lot of hype surrounding the division in the racing that could possibly happen. The first week is in the books, and there are several drivers already trying to put their names to the front of the conversation.
One of the biggest rising stars across the province, Gerrit Tiemersma has been steadily improving behind the wheel, and scored a couple of the big wins at various tracks over the past couple years. He added another to the list on Saturday, by dominating the Super Stock feature at Flamboro Speedway.
Ryden Lapcevich proved the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with a runner-up in his debut, with the wiley veteran in Brad Collison finishing third. Austin Penney and Steve Cashmore rounded out the top-five ahead of David Rockwood.
The rest of the field certainly did not have it easy, with a couple different incidents resulting in some bent fenders and hurt feelings along the way. Flamboro veteran Kevin Gallant was relegated back to a seventh-place finish as a result ahead of Paul Pepper, Jennifer Jarvis-Hatch, Randy Rusnell, and Tyler Bouillon. Notably, it was mechanical issues – blown motor and a fuel leak, which caused Rusnell and Bouillon to fail to finish, respectively.
Mini Stocks
There are some drivers wondering what could have been, while others are proving they are right where they belong.
Will Gibbons once again showed he knows what it takes to get the job done, dominating en route to the victory on Saturday. Dale Millard put together one of his best performances with a runner-up ahead of Cole Quinton with a third in his debut. Kaitlyn Wallace and Mike Thompson rounded out the top-five ahead of Mike Hooper.
Chris Pendlebury and Shawn Taylor spent most of the event up front battling for positions, but contact while racing for second relegated them back to seventh and eighth, respectively. Jordan Morris and Gillian Hils rounded out the top-10 ahead of Ryan Edwards-Kiss and Mike Gilmour.
Pure Stocks
With 30 cars on the property, traffic mayhem just begins to describe what happened at Flamboro Speedway when the Pure Stock feature started. Whether you were at the front or the back, you were surrounded by your fellow competitors. With a couple less experienced faces at the front for the green flag, it made for some interesting first laps, with a couple spins, contact and bent fenders to be spread around.
Once the first jitters were out of the way, though, it became one of the best features to watch of the weekend. The leaders continued to battle all the way around the speedway for the 40 scheduled laps, weaving through lap traffic as they did so.
For Gary Slama, a well-timed move while buried deep in traffic made the difference as he was able to get the lead, and drive away for the victory. Jordan Morris finished second, followed by Jo Lawrence, Hailey McNicol, and Phil Givens. Ohsweken Speedway regular Max Chechalk placed sixth, followed by Kyle Lucas, Leo Labarbera, Dale Lucas, and Gillian Hils.
Zach Hatch finished 11th, followed by Scott Tonelli, Roland Goodfellow, Ken Taylor, Connor Ellis, Cameron Thomson, Alex Stewart, Megan Mitchell, Dan Vis, and Mark Thorne. Steve DeLeeuw placed 21st, followed by Craig Cole, Nicole Stewart, Rueben Fluit, Jimmy Hooper, Reece Bourgeios, and Bobby Mercer. Unfortunately, three drivers did not take the green flag – Jaden Chapman, Rick VanKleef, and Shawn Solomon.
Canadian Vintage Modified
It was a race long battle, but it made it fun to watch for the fans as they witnessed TJ Marshall out-battle Mike Podd for the victory on Saturday. Jerrid Morphy finished third, followed by Joe Arsenault and Mike Klotz. Steve Murdock placed sixth, with Rick Willigar in seventh after a front-end failure.
Quinton Murdoch pushed through some adversity for eighth, while Dale Lucas suffered an axle failure en route to ninth. John Karley was 10th, followed by Connor Ross and Rodney Rutherford, while Brian Pescetti failed to take the green flag.
Flamboro Speedway track officials would like to thank G Force Network for live streaming the event for the fans that could not be in attendance. You can re-watch the broadcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUS7rnKZ9Xw

RaceCanada Rising Star Kyle Steckly will make his 2021 season debut this weekend in the Pro Late Model race at Flamboro, available for viewers on G-Force TV.
Millgrove, Ontario – Flamboro Speedway has played host to some of the best battles among Pro Late Model drivers through the years, and will look to do so once again this coming weekend.
The first round of the Grisdale Triple Crown is set to open up the 2021 season on Saturday, June 19, with live coverage set to take place on GForceTV.
The last time the stars battled for the Triple Crown honors, it was Shae Gemmell taking the prize barely over J.R. Fitzpatrick.
Gemmell has been one of the biggest rising stars on the APC Auto Parts United Late Models, scoring his first victory on the tour at Sauble Speedway a couple years ago. However, Flamboro did not treat him as nicely with finishes of 19th and seventh, both involving contact along the way.
Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, was the biggest star at Flamboro Speedway in 2019 as he took home the track championship. He was also fast in both events last season, pacing laps en route to a pair of fourth-place finishes.
The 2020 campaign saw a NASCAR Pinty’s Series star, D.J. Kennington, and one of the newer faces on the tour, Jade Franklin, each visit victory lane.
Kennington out-ran Matt Box and Shawn Chenoweth in June, and is trying to be a part of the field this coming weekend. If not, though, his teammate Rick Verberne will be someone to watch. Despite this being his Pro Late Model debut, he has experience surrounding him, combined with knowing his way around Flamboro Speedway after battling Ken Grubb for the win in the Super Stock feature last year.
Franklin, meanwhile, out-ran the best in a chaotic finish in October to crown the Frostoberfest Classic victory. It marked a break-out performance after seeing steady gains behind the wheel through Super Stock competition, and a couple stars on the APC Series tour. Though after a sixth and a win last year, you cannot count him out now.
The changing of the guard could be a coming theme as Connor James, Jake Sheridan, and Kyle Steckly are set to make their first couple stars in Pro Late Model competition.
James, who is planning to run the full APC Schedule this year, will have experience on his side with the car being prepared by Holdaway Motorsports. He has proven himself behind the wheel, running up front in Pinty’s Series competition, while winning an Ontario Sportsman Cup Championship.
Sheridan showed speed all last year, as evident by a pair of top-10 finishes with a third in the fall. That isn’t a surprise, though, after placing in the top-10 in the APC Series Standings the past two years. While he has yet to score a win during that time, there has been some strong performances including a pair of podiums in 2019.
Steckly made his debut last fall at Frostoberfest, and ran just outside the top-10 with some of the biggest names prior to placing 16th. The success should come down the road, though, given his trips to victory lane behind the wheel of a mini stock prior to this jump up the ladder.
Before we allow the young guns to take charge, though, you cannot overlook the likes of Shane Maginnis, Andrew Gresel and Shawn Chenoweth. Each has won some of the highest paying events at Flamboro Speedway in the past, whether in Pro Late Models or other divisions. Chenoweth and Maginnis showed speed last year, each scoring a podium finish as they battled for victories.
As previously announced, they will be joined by the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, as well as the Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
Track officials announced recently the event will be live streamed on GForceTV.net. The speedway previously partnered with the service last season to carry numerous events, and found success with fans tuning in from not only across the province, but across Canada and North America.

Victoria, BC – The 2021 Late Model season got underway at Westshore Motorports Park on Saturday night. For the first time in nine months, Jason Frost climbed behind the wheel of the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./The Keg #81 Dodge. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions in British Columbia, only a handful of race fans (family/spotters) were allowed in the grandstands.
Those race fans saw an incredible night of racing and some track history. Jason Frost ran 16.436 in qualifying to reset the Westshore’s Late Model track record. The old record of 16.63 seconds was set back on September 3, 2011 by veteran driver Wade Bland. With his track history making qualifying run in the books, Frost hoped that this speed would carry into the Saturday night ‘twin’ Features. The Team NPP driver was close.
Frost wrapped up the night with back-to-back podium finishes. Frost finished third in both Saturday night Feature races at Westshore.
These podium finishes were the first for Frost at his home track since June 16th, 2018 (3rd place finish). Frost currently sits third in the 2021 Westshore Late Model Championship point standings.
Next race for Frost and the Team NPP #81 Late Model is Saturday, July 10th at Westshore Motorsports Park.
