Milverton, Ontario – Next up for 22 Racing’s trio of wheelmen is an intense two-track three-race weekend in Quebec at Circuit ICAR on Saturday and then at Autodrome Chaudiere on Sunday. With Circuit ICAR a road course and Autodrome Chaudiere an oval it has made preparations for the No 18, 22 and 20 Chevrolet Camaros a daunting task. Fitness of the cars but also of the drivers and crew will be key to maximizing results from a weekend that will require physical and mental endurance.

Coming off a hard-fought third win at GP3R Alex Tagliani is sure to do everything in his power to keep his momentum going. Not only will Tagliani be fighting for the win at ICAR but to also claim the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Championship points lead. Previously, he’s claimed 3 Poles and led 87 laps earning him 3 top-five finishes at ICAR. The driver of the No 18 Rona/ Viagra / St Hubert Chevrolet Camaro has 3 top-five finishes at Autodrome Chaudiere and will assuredly seek to better his past results. Currently “Tag” sits one point out of first in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Championship standings.

A proven threat to win at any track, watch for a highly-motivated Marc-Antoine Camirand to reestablish his road course mastery at Circuit ICAR where he’s earned 1 top-five finish, 2 top-ten finishes leading a total of 13 laps. The pilot of the No. 22 GM Paille Chevrolet Camaro has 1 top-ten under his belt at Chaudiere’s 1/4-mile paved oval and after the speed and competitiveness he demonstrated at the opening round at Sunset Speedway earlier this season expect Camirand to be in the mix for a podium finish at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Joncton, Quebec.

There is no denying Treyten Lapcevich has been a major contender at each race so far this season. A top-five finish in his first-ever road course race behind the wheel of the No 20 RGC / Qwick Wick Chevrolet Camaro at GP3R demonstrated that he’s a quick study while showing a degree of patience displayed in more seasoned drivers. His recent GP3R experience combined with a preseason test at Circuit ICAR could again deliver some surprises. This will also be the Grimsby, Ontario driver’s first visit to Autodrome Chaudiere where his oval racing background and adaptability to new tracks could contribute to producing strong results for the 2021 Rookie of the Year contender.

Live Streaming for each race will be available on TSN.ca and NBC TrackPass in the USA. With TSN and RDS airing the races as follows:

Lafleur 75
TSN – Sunday, Sept. 5, 4:30 p.m. - RDS2 – Saturday, Sept. 11, 2:30 p.m.

Canadian Tire 150

Coltin Everingham will make his APC United Late Model Series debut at Sunset Speedway.

Innisfil, Ontario — Making his APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series debut at Sunset Speedway, Coltin Everingham continued building his notebook with lessons learned in his rookie Pro Late Model campaign.

Everingham would start off the day by laying down a lap of 14.817 seconds to qualify 24th for the feature.

Starting on the 12th row, Everingham avoided the couple early incidents that plagued his fellow competitors to gain a couple positions. From there, he utilized the long green flag run through the middle portion to gain a couple more spots to move up the ranks, while learning how the length of these events compared to regular 30 to 50 lap races changes the handling of the car.

A caution past halfway bunched the field back up and despite being a lap down to the leaders, Everingham utilized it as much as he could to his advantage to gain a couple more spots to finish 19th.

Everingham will be back behind the wheel of his Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifed presented by Just Foam It for Wally Wilson Racing on Saturday, August 21 at Sauble Speedway. He enters the event ranked seventh in the standings, a single point outside the top-five. He also is tied for the Rookie of the Year points lead.

AlexTagliani scored his 3rd GP3R win. (Photo-Ray MacAloney/Canadian Racers)

Trois-Rivieres Quebec – On Sunday Alex Tagliani won the prestigious Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières for the third time in his NASCAR Pinty’s Series career adding to his wins in 2017 and 2018. Rookie Treyten Lapcevich rose to the challenge of his first Street Course race taking 4th, however after qualifying second, Marc-Antione Camirand had to park the No 22 GM Paille machine after only 9 laps due to a transmission issue.

All three of the drivers established a good pace during Saturday morning’s practice session with Camirand posting the second fastest time, Tagliani fifth fastest and Lapcevich twelfth fastest.

The NASCAR Pinty’s Series Official Qualifying session saw Camirand secure 2nd, Tagliani 4th and Lapcevich shaving 1.6 seconds from practice time to capture 9th on the grid for Sunday’s feature race.

Although Tagliani had noticed something was amiss with the power plant of his No. 18 RONA/Viagara/St-Hubert Chevrolet during qualifying he put his faith in his team to diagnose and resolve the issue. Multi-time winner in various racing disciplines at the famed Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres event Camirand seemed confident, and first-time road racer Lapcevich appeared to be equally satisfied with his No 20 RGC / Qwick Wick Chevrolet Camaro.

On a side note, Lapcevich hopped on a plane immediately after qualifying to compete in the APC Series at Sunset Speedway, then drove back to Trois-Rivieres to join the 22 Racing team to make his GP3R race debut.

Come race time fans settled into the stands under near perfect weather conditions after a one-year absence due to COVID-19. Starting from the front row Camirand wasted no time to challenge for the lead, with fellow Quebecer Tagliani methodically working his way forward. Lapcevich, hitting his marks held his own for the opening laps.

On lap nine Camirand’s No 22 machine began to slow on track. Heartbroken, he slowly nursed his now smoking car back to the pits, where it sat for the remainder of the 60-lap race due to a transmission issue.

“I knew I had a car to win which makes the situation even more frustrating. There was nothing that could have been done differently.” said the dejected pilot of the No 22 GM Paille Chevy “I will come back next year to get my 15th win” he added, with a desire to add a NASCAR Pinty’s Series win at GP3R to his collection of wins in other racing disciplines.

With pit strategy beginning to playout the 17-year-old pilot of the No 20 Chevy momentarily took the lead in his first start on a road course before heading to the pits himself.

Fittingly, on Lap 18 driver of the No. 18 RONA/Viagara/St-Hubert Chevrolet took the lead which he only relinquished once after a Lap 30 restart before regaining it. Constantly under threat Tagliani kept up the pace and remained focused on the task at hand. A restart with four laps remaining, Tag, had to hold off a hard charging effort by the No. 74 machine to take his third win at the legendary GP3R event.

“We were a bit nervous on how the engine was running, but the team changed what they needed to get the car back to exactly where I needed it to be to fight for the win. Huge thanks to the team for all their work” said three-time GP3R winner Tagliani.

The road racing rookie Lapcevich proved he was a quick study and kept charging in an attempt to secure his first GP3R podium, but ultimately crossed the line with an impressive 4th place finish.

“Fourth in my first-ever road race. What a day!” enthused Lapcevich “A huge thank you to everyone who offered advice. It truly helped.”

The Guardian Angels 60 from GP3R will air on TSN on Sunday, Aug. 22, at 1:00 p.m. ET. Fans in the United States can stream races after they air on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.

Next up for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series will head to Circuit ICAR for the Lafluer 75 on Saturday, August 28.

Pole position, a qualifying track record and a top-5 finish in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières

Trois-Rivieres, Quebec – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team showed their potential right from the start of their weekend with the best time in practice, the pole position by one second, establishing a new track record at the same time. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin led the race until his mandatory pit stop on lap 12. He then fought hard for a top-3 finish as one of the front calipers seized and slowed him down on the straight. He crossed the finish line in fifth place, after a weekend of mixed successes.

“We had a good race pace, but one of the front calipers was seizing. We had to fight very hard to stay in the top-3, end then in the top-5. I was pushing hard on the brakes in the corners because I couldn't keep up on the straights. The brakes were cooling down during the caution periods, but the problem came back after three or four laps at speed after the restarts. On the last restart, I was in third place as a competitor pushed me. I got sideways, barely making the subsequent corner, relegating me to fifth place. We had a car good enough for a podium finish, but the great result got away from us. It's not easy to live through this because we want to do well for our partners, friends and family, but it's important to focus on the championship, where every point counts. We will work even harder for the next races,” shares Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Weekend Summary

On Saturday morning practice, Louis-Philippe was quickest right from the start and remained on top throughout the one-hour session. “It's nice to be first in the practice, but the important thing was the pole position. I'm proud of my team because we made several set-up changes to make the car better towards the end of the 60-lap race. In that time on track, we made adjustments to the car's behaviour,” explained the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car.

We saw the same scenario in Saturday qualifying as Louis-Philippe Dumoulin set a new lap record that put him firmly in the lead (1:06.721), almost a second ahead of second place. “After my first lap, already good enough for the pole, I went back on track with the idea of delaying the braking even more and that's certainly what ensured my pole position and set the track record. This great result is a testimony to the hard work the team has put in over the last few weeks. I am also very proud of my brother Jean-Francois who qualified fifth.
