Steve Cote is looking for a top 5 in Delaware.

Mirabel, Quebec – The Allrem Racing team is gearing up for the penultimate event of the 2024 NASCAR Canada presented by Pinty’s and Evirum season, as they head to Delaware Speedway.

Originally scheduled two weeks ago, the race was postponed to September 8 due to bad weather. This Sunday, Steve Côté will be at the wheel of the #29 Evirum/BKFC Chevrolet, ready to take on Delaware’s historic oval in Ontario. Just minutes from London, this track is one of the oldest in Canada, having opened in 1952. Paved in the 1960s, it has remained in operation ever since.

Côté will make his NASCAR Canada debut at Delaware in the 200-lap race, but the track isn't completely new to him. The Allrem Racing team conducted test sessions at that location two weeks ago, giving them valuable experience ahead of Sunday.

“I really enjoyed this track,” Côté shared. “It’s the first 1/2-mile oval I’ve raced on this season. I love the speed of this type of circuit. A lap takes about 19 seconds here, compared to around 13 seconds at Autodrome Chaudière.”

For Steve Côté, a return to oval racing is a trip back to his roots, a type of track he particularly enjoys. Only two races remain this season – Delaware Speedway this weekend and the grand finale at Autodrome Montmagny.

According to Jonathan Côté, the team’s crew chief, the race to the finish line is in full swing. “The 2024 schedule has left us with little time between races. Since mid-August, we've been working non-stop preparing for each event. But we're riding a wave of momentum and motivation after our result at CTMP, and we’re focused on keeping that momentum.”

Earlier in the season at Autodrome Chaudière, Côté posted the 6th fastest time in practice and qualified 5th, though mechanical issues pushed him down to 13th in the final standings. Now, the team is looking to rebound in Ontario and finish the season with back-to-back Top 5 finishes.

Fans attending the event will also have the chance to receive giveaways from BKFC, the world’s fastest-growing combat sport. Steve Côté and the entire Allrem Racing team would also like to wish Quebec fighter Jade Masson-Wong the best of luck as she headlines BKFC 65 in Salt Lake City this Friday, September 6.

At the Delaware Speedway, practice kicks off at 11:00 a.m., followed by qualifying at 2:30 p.m. The Delaware 200 will start at 4:30 p.m. For those unable to attend, the race will be streamed live on the TSN+ or FloRacing app.

Alex Tagliani fought mechnical issues to come home 9th at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
By: TAG Motorsport
September 3, 2024

Bowmanville, Ontario - Alex Tagliani wrapped up the WeatherTech 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in 9th place this past Sunday. While the result doesn't reflect the full effort of Theetge Motorsport or the car's potential, Tagliani's performance was still a highlight.

Tagliani demonstrated the speed of the No. 80 St-Hubert/BFL/Arobas/Chevrolet 440 during Saturday’s practice, securing the 4th fastest time. He followed that up by qualifying 7th for the race.

Once the race began, Tagliani wasted no time climbing through the field. After the first restart, he surged into 5th place, breaking away with the leaders. As other drivers began their first pit stops, Tagliani stayed on track, pushing the car to gain valuable positions.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on his side. With 32 laps remaining, the front sway bar broke, leaving Tagliani with a car that was difficult to handle. Despite the setback, the veteran driver skillfully managed to stay with the leaders, even climbing to 2nd place.

Tagliani fought hard to maintain his position, losing only two spots with just a few laps to go. Running 4th and choosing not to pit, he was in a strong position to finish well.

"At that point, the only option was to stay out and manage the gap," Tagliani explained. "The team was feeding me lap times, and my job was to minimize the time loss by driving on the edge while protecting the tires. The last thing we needed was a yellow flag."

Unfortunately, with just 4 laps remaining, a caution brought the field back together, erasing the gap Tagliani had worked so hard to maintain.

On the restart, Tagliani’s car, hampered by the mechanical issue, couldn’t fend off the competition. He lost several positions, ultimately finishing 9th.

"It’s really disappointing because we had the potential for a much better result," Tagliani explained. "Without the sway bar breaking, it would have been a completely different race. The car was almost impossible to control after that."

He added, "Even with the issue, we were still in a good position. We had enough of a lead to lose about eight-tenths per lap and still be competitive. But the restart really hurt us; the car just couldn’t turn in the corners."

"There was also the risk of cutting a tire because part of the bar was hitting underneath the car," Tagliani continued. "It’s frustrating because we couldn’t challenge the cars ahead of us."

In closing, Tagliani reflected, "This season has been tough with a lot of bad luck and minor issues. But the positive takeaway is that we always have a strong car capable of running up front. It's just a matter of time before everything comes together."

Kevin Lacroix took the win at Canadia Tire Motorsport Park after contact first with Kyle Steckly with two laps to go, then with Marc-Antoine Camirand on the last lap.

It took a last lap move to find a winner in the NASCAR Canada race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Kevin Lacroix took victory in the WeatherTech 200 on Sunday, using a last lap bump and run in turn five on Marc-Antoine Camirand to get it done.

The Mirabel, QC native put it on pole in Qualifying and let the field to the green flag and held on into turn one. He would not be able to build a lead with the race being red flagged due to a massive incident involving Dexter Stacy and Jason Hathaway, one that saw the former beached atop the concrete wall and tire barrier, forcing a delay to remove his car and repair the barrier.

Once things got back underway, it was Lacroix continuing to maintain early control until lap 15, where he relinquished the lead during the pit stop phases.

Camirand took over and dominated the middle to end parts of this race and seemed to be on the way to a commanding victory if not for a late caution.

A combination of a mechanical failure from Sam Fellows and spin in turn 3 from Gary Klutt brought out the caution and set up a dash to the finish.

Camirand was about to hold the lead until the final lap at Moss corner.

Lacroix put the bumper to him heading into 5b, pushing him wide, and allowing for the pass to be easily completed, giving him enough of a cushion to hang on for his fourth win of the season, grabbing redemption from earlier in the year where he lost out on victory in the opener due to a transmission failure while leading.

Kyle Steckly rounded out the podium in what was a fantastic performance for the young driver, adding another achievement to what’s been a consistent and successful year for him across the board.

Andrew Ranger came home in fourth, limiting the loss in points to Camirand to only six.

D.J. Kennington rounded out the top five in what was a quiet day for him and his team.

J.P. Bergeron finished sixth with Steve Coté being the highest placing rookie in seventh. Gary Klutt recovered from his late race spin to secure eighth.

Alex Tagliani capped off a solid day in ninth, with Ryan Klutt rounding out the top 10.

The series heads back to ovals for the final two rounds of the season, with their first stop being Delaware Speedway.

Action kicks off on Sept. 8 at 4:30 P.M. EST.

Bowmanville, Ontario - Marc-Antoine Camirand scored a second-place finish after an action-packed last lap, on Sunday, as the NASCAR Canada series was at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, near Bowmanville, ON. Andrew Ranger also scored a satisfying fourth-place finish for Paillé Course//Racing.

Winner in the spring at this fast-paced road course, Marc-Antoine Camirand was looking to repeat this victory for the second race at CTMP.  His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro was the fastest in practice on Saturday, and placed fourth later that day in qualifying.

During the 51-lap race, he quickly climbed the field, notably with a spectacular maneuver to pass between two competitors and a lapped down car, and then took the lead of the race.

With a long sequence under green, the Camirand Performance crew opted for an audacious strategy. “We took fuel, but then we stayed on track and didn’t take tires, which gave me a considerable lead. With such a gap, I ran very slowly and saved my tires. If the race had stayed green, we would have won with a considerable lead,” said Camirand.

But a yellow came and the race restarted with four laps to go. “I knew that some competitors took four tires but were a few positions behind at the restart. When the white flag came out, I had Kevin Lacroix, who had taken four tires, right behind me and I knew that he would make a move.”

Camirand was bumped in turn 5 and, with older tires, has not been able to chase back for the win. “It’s a shame that this late caution came out, because our strategy had been working well for us. Of course, I would have like to take the win here, but the most important thing for us was to secure good championships points, and this is what we did,” said Camirand.

Andrew Ranger also had a strong weekend at CTMP, where he had been unlucky in the past years. Third in practice and in qualifying, Ranger managed to keep a good pace at the beginning of the race.

Ranger’s team, Innovation Auto Sport, opted for a totally different strategy than Camirand’s. “We pitted for fuel at lap 24, then made two other stops for left and ride side tires, since we are not allowed to change more than two tires at the time,” told Ranger.

“We were hoping that a yellow flag would come out earlier in the race after our pit stops under green, but it didn’t. When the caution came out, I was in ninth place and there were four laps left in the race at the restart. I made the best of this situation.”

He drove his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro from ninth to fourth place in four laps, and battled hard for third place in the last lap.
“I’m very happy with this fourth place, since it’s my best result here since 2019. I had fast cars, but had all kinds of problems in the race, so I’m very happy to let this bad luck behind finally,” Ranger concluded.
Marc-Antoine Camirand leads the NASCAR Canada series’ drivers’ standings, with 27 points over Andrew Ranger in second place.
Paillé Course//Racing, Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger will be back in action next Sunday, at Delaware Speedway near London, ON, for the penultimate event of the season in the NASCAR Canada series.

DJ Kennington scored another top five finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
By: DJK Racing
September 2, 2024

DJ Kennington, driver of the #17 Castrol EDGE Dodge, delivered another strong performance in the NASCAR Canada Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) this past Sunday. Despite not showing top-tier speed in practice or qualifying, Kennington proved his resilience and skill by securing a fifth-place finish in the WeatherTech 200.

Starting from the 14th position on the grid, Kennington was confident in the race setup of his car, expecting another strong showing once the green flag dropped. In the first half of the race, the #17 team executed a scheduled pit stop for fuel and later another stop for left-side tires, setting Kennington up for a strong run to the finish.

As the race progressed, Kennington methodically worked his way through the field. A late-race caution bunched the competitors together, giving him the opportunity to continue his charge forward. When the checkered flag waved, Kennington had climbed to an impressive fifth-place finish, adding yet another top-five to his season’s accomplishments.

This strong result at CTMP also had championship implications. Kennington’s consistent performances throughout the season have now vaulted him into fourth place in the overall standings.

DJ Kennington Quotes:   "We didn’t show the speed we expected early in the weekend, but we knew we’d have a strong race car when it mattered. The Castrol team did a great job with the pit stops, and we kept pushing right to the end and that late caution helped us out. Another top-five finish is exactly what we needed to keep moving up in the championship.”
